BOARD OF EDUCATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Board of Education Provided Quality Education for All Children:

• Glastonbury School System consistently  ranked As One Of the BEST in the State
• Developed and updated an outstanding curriculum which includes a wide variety of courses, including AP honors classes and diverse elective offerings,  allowing students of every ability to succeed in each subject area
• Provided extensive opportunities for students in athletics and  other extracurricular activities, resulting in state and nationally recognized athletes, musicians and scholars
• Developed Recognized Schools of Excellence and hired and retained award winning teachers and administrators
• Maintained a 99% + Graduation Rate with 93% of GHS graduates going on to further their education, many accepted to the  most prestigious colleges and universities
• Successfully collaborated with the PTSO and the Glastonbury Education Foundation

Improved and Enhanced Our School System:

• Continued to work co-operatively with Town Council and all town Boards and Commissions
• Developed and implemented Third Generation District Strategic Plan
• Initiated costs savings Special Education Alternate Programs for special needs students
• Enhanced and improved curriculum development for students and professional development for teachers
• Created and executed a responsive and comprehensive district Communication Plan, including development of the GPS education web portal and Emergency Notification System
• Developed  Web-based access to curriculum through Curriculum  Mapping
• Integrated technology in classrooms and offices throughout  the system
• Successfully applied for grants to fund programs beyond Taxpayer dollars
• Implemented  New Business Management Software to improve accountability
• Completed construction projects (GHS and Nayaug) on time and under budget and redistricted all elementary schools
